The place where the descendants of Jang Gyehyang, who wrote "Umsikdimibang" lives

Being well known as one of the great tourist sites of Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Dudle Village is a place where you can enjoy both food and literary work. Seokgye Head House, constructed in 1640, in late Joseon Dynasty, is located in the middle of the village. This has been the head house of the descendants of Jang Gyehyang, who is the writer of "Umsikdimibang", for 13 generations.

This is a 200-year-old small tile-roofed house with a square shaped entrance, giving you a warm feeling.

It is good to study and enjoy the view of Seokgye Head House, which is 400-year-old historic house next to this house.

Designated as Gyeongsangbuk-do Folklore Material No. 91 in 1990

Seokgye Head House is a house with wings, in which Daemunchae, Sarangchae and Anchae make a shape like a ‘三’. Stepping stone was used to make the stylobate, and the house was built on it.

Building Hanok with layers helps block the cold wind from outside.

As a matter of fact, there is a clay wall built between the Sarangchae and Anchae, which made the structure of the house in a square shape.

You can sit out in the sun at the table middle of the yard or the wooden floor, which makes a comfortable resting area.

The door was built in where the main floored hall used to be, and some tall tables, couches and bookshelves are furnished to make it into a library.

Inside the rooms, air conditioners and bathrooms are well equipped so that anyone can have a comfortable stay.
